LASPARK HOLDS TREE PLANTING DAY AWARENESS SEMINAR

As part of preparation for the Year 2017 Tree Planting Day, the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) has held a “Walk for Tree” and an awareness seminar to highlight the importance of tree planting at the Epe Local Government Secretariat.

Speaking at the One-Day seminar, the General Manager of the Agency, Mrs Abimbola Jijoho-Ogun said the sensitisation walk and seminar are to enlighten and reawaken Lagosians on the sacred responsibility of preserving nature.

She noted that “Nature has been good to us and our refusal to reciprocate this kind gesture is ungodly, inhuman and selfish because God actually instructed that we replenish the earth and not make it naked.”

Mrs. Jijoho-Ogun reiterated that when people continue to destroy trees, they are also destroying human life, reducing biological diversity and cheating posterity as we know it, stressing that it is a criminal offence to fell trees in the State without seeking for permission from LASPARK.
